The Belief

I believe digital spaces should feel intuitive, authentic, and deeply human. Not templated. Not generic. Not built to impress a slide deck.

For 7+ years I've been blending bold visual aesthetics with proven psychological design principles to create 1-to-1 experiences that connect with users on a personal level — from startup landing pages to government service portals across Tamil Nadu.

Rooted in Reality

யதார்த்தத்தில் வேரூன்றியது

Understanding the street-level truth and your core needs before dropping a single pixel on the canvas. Design that doesn't begin with empathy ends with irrelevance.

Unapologetically Bold

துணிச்சலான தெளிவு

Cutting out the noise to deliver raw, high-impact visuals that speak directly to the audience. Clarity is the highest form of design sophistication.

Living Interactions

உயிர்ப்புள்ள தொடர்புகள்

Interfaces that breathe with purposeful motion, feeling as dynamic and alive as our city. Static screens are missed opportunities for connection.

Why Tamil Design System Exists

Look at what happened in music. Independent musicians no longer need a label to release their work. A bedroom producer in Madurai can reach a million ears without asking anyone's permission. The infrastructure — DAWs, streaming platforms, SoundCloud — made it possible.

The same revolution happened in writing. Writers self-publish. In film, independent directors distribute globally from their laptops. Every creative field found its path to independence — except design.

A UI/UX designer with original ideas still needs to rebuild from scratch every project. No shared language. No accessible component library in Tamil. No foundation built for the public-service context of Tamil Nadu. Every designer reinvents the same wheel, in isolation, for the same government portals and civic apps.

Tamil Design System is the infrastructure that changes this. It's the equivalent of a DAW for independent musicians — a shared foundation that lets designers focus on creativity, not commodity work.

What's Being Built

Tamil Design System is an open-source, bilingual design system built specifically for Tamil Nadu's digital public services. It's not a portfolio project — it's infrastructure meant to be used by real designers building real civic software.

For designers

வடிவமைப்பாளர்களுக்காக

A complete component library, pattern language, and design tokens — in both Tamil and English. Ship faster. Think deeper.

For Tamil Nadu

தமிழ்நாட்டிற்காக

Built around public-service UX. Accessibility-first. Government-grade quality standards for the people who need them most.

For independent designers

சுயாதீன வடிவமைப்பாளர்களுக்காக

A shared foundation so you don't reinvent basics. Focus on the creative decisions that actually matter to your users.

For the culture

கலாச்சாரத்திற்காக

Kicking off the habit of building and sharing design infrastructure openly — the same way musicians share stems, and writers share craft.

Behind the Scenes & Acknowledgements

Building a comprehensive, bilingual design system is never a solo endeavor. It requires rigorous debate, constant feedback, and an incredible amount of behind-the-scenes support across development, content strategy, and QA.

We originally started as members of the NGO naamvidhaikalam.org. Over time, our shared vision for digital public goods led us to evolve into the Open Tamil Projects community team. This entire design system and infrastructure exists because of the collective development effort, late-night code debugging, and unshakeable moral support of this incredible team.

Heartfelt thanks to the Open Tamil Projects team: Jawahar, Sesh, Jeyanth, Samuel, Emmanuel, Kalai, Simon, Rahul, Vimal, Sailessh, Manoj, Ajay Jebastin, Parves, Giriesh, Kaiser, Sujith, Kabilash, Shameer, Krishnamurthy, Dinesh, Mukesh, Saran, Praveen, Ashwin, Anjali, Divya, Sam, Volker, Monish, Amsavarthan, Suresh, Yukesh, Aravind, and Roshan.
